This year St Leonard’s Hospice has to raise £9,336 each and every day to continue providing care and support to those in our community facing a life limiting illness.
On Saturday 23 June, the York charity are organising a women-only Midnight Walk in order to raise funds. It has been given an ‘Angels and Demons’ theme and they’re looking for ladies ready to take on and of the routes with other do-gooders. The longest route is 10 miles for those who are up for a challenge or a gentler 5 mile stroll is available for those wishing to take it a little easier – both starting and finishing at York College, Sim Balk Lane and taking in many of the sites our beautiful city has to offer. Arrive early, get in the party mood and enjoy a motivating warm up session before you set off. On the night there will be a large illuminated dedication screen and you are invited to include your own personal message.
If you would like to take part but not quite sure that you can go the distance, marshals will be on hand throughout the route to get you back to base camp, where warm drinks and bacon butties will be waiting. You may want to walk in memory of a friend or loved one, as a way of keeping fit or simply to do something a little different with your girlfriends on a Saturday night – whatever your reasons please remember that you will of course be generating vital funds for our Hospice.
Despite being a women-only walk, St Leonard’s Hospice are desperately need husbands, partners, boyfriends, sons and friends to help them set up, marshal and encourage our ladies throughout the night – and then tidy up with us at the end.
