‘The Aesthetica Short Film Festival is a celebration of independent film from across the world, and an outlet for supporting and championing short filmmaking.’ – Aesthetica Magazine

It doesn’t seem long since the success of last year’s Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF 2011) which saw the exposure of some hidden trinkets within the short film industry. The festival, held annually by the international Arts magazine, is a dynamic player in the UK film festival circuit which produces and presents work of all kinds of genres including documentary, comedy and experimental film- here at One&Other we’re already excited to see what this year’s event has to offer.

Applicants interested in submitting their work to ASFF 2012 have just one month left, and with some excellent entries already from filmmakers worldwide in the mix Aesthetica is encouraging anyone with a passion for the silver screen to get involved in what is sure to be a fantastic experience.

Taking place 8-11 November 2012, Aesthetica will be screening the work shortlisted across 15 iconic locations around the city including the De Grey Rooms, According to McGee and Bar Lane Studios.

For budding filmmakers this is a fantastic opportunity to see your film in new and surprising visual contexts, and with the whole city teeming with the vibrant film community, you can be sure to meet industry professionals as well as other filmmakers who share a passion for film. If that doesn’t tempt you enough there are also some incredible prizes at stake, including up to £500 in cash, reciprocal screenings at other festivals, and editorial coverage in Aesthetica Magazine.

The deadline for submissions is 31 May, whereby all films selected will be given notification by  30 July, and the shortlist of finalists announced in the December issue of Aesthetica Magazine. The film should be a maximum of 25 minutes in length, to be entered.
