The City of York Council Arts and Culture team are offering five free bursary places to the annual Arts Development UK Annual Conference in York.
One of the highlights in the international arts events calendar, the 2012 Conference will take place across 18th and 19th October at the York Barbican. Aimed at Artists, Local Authority Arts Officers, Arts Education Officers at museums and attractions, community arts practitioners, and those with an interest in the arts, the conference will explore issues such as the changing arts development to fit the future, real Localism and how to achieve it, and new commissioning and delivery opportunities. It also represents a fantastic opportunity to network with some of the top arts organisations and decision makers across the UK.
The programme includes keynote talks, break out sessions and study tours and there is an evening event with hot food to ensure networking continues long into the night. The full programme can be viewed on the Arts Development UK website.
With tickets starting at £350 per person, Portia Simpson, Arts & Festivals Officer at City of York Council believes the bursary places will be in great demand: “I have personally attended several Arts Development UK conferences in the past and have always come away with lots of practical ideas and inspiration. In tough financial times, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain some great CPD without breaking the bank.”
To qualify you must also join up for half price annual membership, for which you will receive an additional 6 months free too (meaning £45 for individual reduced from £90 or £85 for corporate reduced from £170).
If you are interested please email portia.simpson@york.gov.uk answering the following question in 300 words or less: ‘How do you feel you will you benefit from attending the Arts Development UK 2012 Conference’ along with your name and contact details before 5pm on Wednesday 3 October.
