As I tuck into a moreish packet of chocolate delights, (Munchies to be exact) news comes to light of a brilliant new chocolate opportunity coming to York in the spring of this year. York is renowned for being the home of Rowntree’s and Nestle, it oozes sweet historical richness. With the knowledge of where our beloved chocolates and sweets came from, comes a brilliant new event that could only bring smiles of warmth from both the staff behind this scheme and York’s visitors and public alike.

‘York’s Sweet Story’ is a brilliant event coming to King’s Square in York in the spring of this year. Providing nostalgic stories for the public into the backgrounds of their favourite chocolate bars, their rich detailed history and how York was in fact the birthplace of where these luscious chocolates originated from. Visitors will be able to hear stories about the men and women who (between the 19th and 21st century) brought these recipes to life. “Visitors will be taken on a journey through the story of chocolate and confectionery in York where they will see chocolate come to life, hear generations of chocolate secrets, explore from bean to bar and taste their way through York’s sweet story.”

With a panel of four representating ‘Team Chocolate’, (giving the X factor style set up a delicious makeover) their aim is to find candidates for full and part time positions for this spring event. ‘Team Chocolate’ consists of Michael Constantine, (General Manager) Becky Senior, (Marketing Manager) Jenny Tutty, ( Operations Manager) and Kirsty Kennedy (corporate and hospitality assistant).
