A feature film being shot in York in August is offering the opportunity to do just that as it crowdfunds its post-production.
Whoops! is a very British black comedy in the style of Hitchcock and the Ealing comedies, based on events in the lives of 1331 owner, Sam Robinson, and his wife, Jan. Originally conceived a short story about a woman who finds herself on an accidental murdering spree after attacking and killing a would-be assailant, it has evolved into an exciting screenplay.
Whoops! is the fourth film of MilesTone and builds on the audience acclaim achieved by the likes of CrimeFighters, Amber, and the cult web series Zomblogalypse. With all respect to those productions, which resembled minor miracles built on micro-budgets and favours amongst friends, Whoops! is pitched at an entirely new level. It has its sights on being a serious contender to next year’s international theatrical releases. Having assembled a top cast and crew around a truly original script, they’re already well on their way.
Talking to us back in March, Miles Watts, writer/director of Whoops!, said: “Whoops! differs from other features we’ve made in scale, budget and ambition. We’re stepping things up in every department to create what we hope will be a jaw-dropping, entertaining and memorable film. We’re working with industry professionals to make sure the film is conceived, filmed and delivered to the highest standard possible. We are so pleased with how CrimeFighters performed in cinemas and festivals but that film was made for only £7,000 and we have an opportunity with Whoops! to fix everything that was lacking on that micro-budget film.”
In exchange for perks from set visits to signed merchandise, the team behind Whoops! are asking for financial backing from £15 via their IndieGoGo page.
