On our doorstep sits everybody’s favourite little festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend – Galtres Festival. We’re pleased to say that they have just announced this year’s headliners on top of an already impressive line-up.
Ash, the “ultimate singles band”, will be celebrating their 20th anniversary in North Yorkshire, headlining Saturday night on the main Duke Stage. Ash officially formed in 1992, reportedly having taken their name from the first word they liked in the dictionary. They will be supported by the Guillemots.
The Buzzcocks are set to be the Friday night’s headliners, with 1980s sensation Adam Ant & The Good The Mad And The Lovely Posse will be tying things up with buckets of new romantic flair on the Sunday.
Also set to play over the weekend are Simon & Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene, Hope & Social, Ellen & The Escapades, Billy Bragg(!), Seth Lakeman, The Men They Couldn’t Hang, The Traveling Band, Chris Helme and a whole host of local acts largely sourced from the acoustic and ska scenes.
Galtres Festival is a charitable enterprise promoting original live music, dance and performance whilst encouraging local produce such as beer and food suppliers creating a safe and structured environment for families and young children. Weekend tickets range in price from £50 to £90 and all proceeds go to charity.
It is best described as Beer/Cidre/Music/Fun/Food Festival it takes place from 24-26 August 2012.
