Leeds and York partnership NHS foundation are wanting to create the worlds largest bunting, and in the process set a brand new Guinness World Record to promote mental health in the area they are wanting the public, carers, service users and staff to make a positive difference in there life and health.

There is no limit to how much bunting you make it could be from 1 to 100 pieces you can make it yourself or in a group, there will be volunteer chances at activities and events around York and Leeds. The campaign is inspired by the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympics games.

You are encouraged to set yourself a personal goal and then represent that goal on a pre-cut bunting triangle using fabric pens and other items that can be sewn onto the fabric. It has been shown that if we write down out goals we are more likely to achieve them. The activity will reflect the Olympic values of setting aspirations and attempting to achieve them as well as bringing people together for a common purpose.

Leeds and York partnership NHS foundation are hoping to create 2.5 miles of bunting and will need about 12,500 individual triangle pieces attached side by side.

Leeds Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust was awarded NHS Foundation Trust status on 1 August 2007. On 1 February 2012 Leeds Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust merged with mental health and learning disability services from NHS North Yorkshire and York,  becoming Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. They provide specialist mental health and learning disability services to people within Leeds, York, Selby, Tadcaster, Easingwold and parts of North Yorkshire.

They are still part of the NHS and will still be subject to NHS standards, performance ratings and systems of inspection, operating to NHS principles of free care, based on need and not ability to pay. The difference with a Foundation Trust is that it is run locally within the community it serves, with local people having a say in how they wish their services to be developed.
