JRF up for National Media Awards

Joseph Rowntree Foundation has been shortlisted for two major awards at this year’s Roses Media Awards.

The foundation has been nominated for best new media blog and best photography both for coverage showcasing older people.

York born actress and former Mount School pupil, Dame Judi Dench has also been nominated for her role as Evelyn in hit British film, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

The Roses Media Awards run by charity, Independent Age focuses on the best examples of coverage across all media concerning older people’s issues. The awards are a regular celebration running annually as part of helping to improve the lives of older people.

The awards will take place on Thursday 8 November in London and will be hosted by broadcaster and journalist, Janet-Street Porter.

Based on Water End, The Joseph Rowntree Foundation have for years helped the drive for lasting change for people and in helping to create a more equal society.

Dame Judi Dench’s long spanning career has included appearing in all of William Shakespeare’s plays and recently the James Bond series. In her early acting career, she contributed to the theatre culture of the city in the 1950’s appearing in the revival of the York Mystery Plays.
