Stuart GouldenA big hole has suddenly and mysteriously appeared on the corner of Bishopthorpe Road and Scarcroft Road this evening, causing the police to close the road to traffic during rush hour.
The size of the hole was increasingly dramatically as cars initially ran over it, and it is now approximately 3ft by 3ft wide. It is not yet certain with today’s high tempatures played a part in the hazard forming.
The footpaths on Bishopthorpe Road remain open and City of York Council are on site to assess and fix the damage.
