Adding to this morning’s rowing success in the women’s pair, Team GB’s Men’s eight have secured another Bronze medal for Great Britain after racing against current World Champions, Germany, in a gripping final.

Featuring star of York City Rowing Club, Tom Ransley, the men’s eight clocked an impressive time of 5:51.18. The tension was palpable as halfway through the race at Eton Dorney the Brits pulled ahead of Germany to secure the lead. The excited roars of the audience reflected the amazement as Britain took on the formidable German team, unbeaten since 2009 and appeared to be winning. However, despite the encouraging roars of the home crowd, the team had pushed themselves to the limit allowing Canada to slip past them on the line to secure silver.

The medal count now stands as six for Great Britain: one gold, two silver and three bronze.
