One of the biggest period dramas of the 1970s and re-vamped by the BBC in 2010, Upstairs Downstairs explores the lives of the prosperous Bellamy family, who live ‘upstairs’ in their large country house in the heart of Belgravia, with their servants who live ‘downstairs.’
Britain may be on the brink of War and rationing but there’s certainly no slacking on the fashion front as everyone looks tremendously elegant. We particularly love the voluptuous and feminine 1930s style, and men’s immaculate tailoring.
One of the attractions of our city is the diverse and fantastic selection of Vintage fashion, some of my favourite places to find pieces are Purple Haze, Vintage emporium and Oxfam, even the high street seems inspired by current dramas on our screens. Here are some inspirational high-street picks for her:
1 – Blouse from a selection – Purple Haze. 2 – White stripe blazer – River Island, £50 3 – Leather satchel – from a selection of Vintage in York. 4 – Ruby silk dress from a selection of Vintage in York. 5 – Pharoah maxi coat – Topshop Unique, £250. 6 – Parka maxi dress in stone – Reiss, £195 7 – Fascinator – from a selection of Vintage in York.
