Jasmine HintonOctober is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Team Pink will be returning to York for the fourth successive year to Paint the Town Pink in a series of pink-themed activities to help raise funds and awareness for the campaign. They hope to raise £20,000 during the month and are looking for lots of people to volunteer, get involved and donate to help them reach their target.
There are lots of ways you can get involved. You can volunteer and join the teams across the city handing out posters and leaflets to spread the word and collect donations. You can also help to organise and be involved in some of the exciting fundraising events taking place across the city
The big iconic push comes on the Paint the Town Pink launch which takes place on Parliament Street on Sunday 7 October. This will see the team out in York city centre with entertainment, face painting, fundraising activities and pink promotional goodies.
Register online on the Breast Cancer Awareness website (here) to secure your place. On Wear It Pink Day on Friday 26 October simply wear pink for the day and donate £2 to the Breast Cancer Campaign. It’s so easy to get involved and make a difference!
You can also help to raise awareness of Paint the Town Pink and get more people involved in the fundraising activities whilst also showing your support for the campaign. Be as creative and imaginative as you wish: use lighting to turn buildings pink, ask your favourite sports team to wear pink for a match or create pink shop window displays. There are so many ways to literally paint the town pink and encourage people to get involved and donate.
You can give as much or as little time as you like; every hour will make a difference and every penny donated will help to go towards fighting this disease.
