Performers and producers from performing arts in York have the opportunity to network, share their work and promote what they do to a wider audience at a brand new event coming to the City Screen.
The Lonely Arts Cabaret is set to be a lively and informal way for those involved in the performing arts to network and will be at the cinema on Tuesday 23 October at 7.30pm.
Managing Director Helen Mahoney said: “With the recent focus on York bidding to become a UNSESCO City of Media Arts, I think it’s also important to recognise, celebrate and support other arts forms in the city. Those involved in the performing and visual arts, for example, can often feel they are working in isolation. I hope The Lonely Arts Cabaret will be a fun and inspiring way for people to make new connections.
The event will have a cabaret style showcase and the line-up of performers taking part includes Hedgepig Theatre Company and international mind reader Luke. There will also be a talk from Tom Sharpe of branding agency The Beautiful Meme.
Mahoney said: “We’ve made this a free event so that anyone who is curious can come along and get a taste of the creative talent that York is bursting with.”
