Founded in 2007, the Northern Arts Prize celebrates the very best contemporary artists based in the North of England. With such celebrated virtuosos as Hockney and Hirst emanating from the Northern counties, the region is a hotbed of creative talent making for a prestigious and multifarious competition.

The nominated artists can be of any age or nationality, specialising in any media, and are selected by twelve arts professionals representing both urban and rural areas. With a long-list of twenty four inspired adepts, the NAP is pleased to announce the names in the running for the Sixth Northern Arts Prize. The long-list is as follows:

Iain Andrews, Samantha Donnelly, Tim Etchells, Peter J Evans, Lothar Götz, Dave Griffiths, Margaret Harrison, Ben Jeans, Houghton, Matthew Houlding, James Hutchinson, Kaye & West, David Mackintosh, Paul Morrison, Rosalind Nashashibi, David Osbaldeston, Maguns Quaife, Emily Speed, Sneha Solanki, Sarah Staton, Joanne Tatham  Tom O’Sullivan and Kraig Wilson.
