I’m sure you’ve heard that tonight is the opening ceremony to London 2012. If spending a Friday evening in your front room glued to the television isn’t quite the celebration you had in mind, why not go elsewhere?  Vue Cinema are screening the event, but unfortunately it is now sold out. Looks like it will be pubs and living rooms for the rest of us.

The Terrace on Fossgate are showing the ceremony from 9pm, on a day like today one of the appeals of The Terrace is that they have a screen outside, so you won’t be missing these fleeting days of summer. Slug and Lettuce are also showing it, and like The Terrace will be screening all of the big olympic events.

For those of you who fancy something a bit different there is also a huge 80s exstravaganza at the Knavesmire, featuring the likes of Marc Almond, Tony Hadley and Altered Image. The racecourse itself will then play host to an evening race meet, all rounded off by coverage of the Ceremony of the big screen.

Finally, the Dean Court Hotel is showing the Olympics in their entirety, so be sure to head down and get a good spot.

Wherever you decide to watch it tonight, enjoy.
