Calling all young actors! York Theatre Royal Young Actors Company (YAC) will be holding auditions for their latest production, a commissioned piece for The Yorkshire Museum. The auditions will be taking place on Sunday 27 May, from 18.30 until 21.00, in preparation for the production itself which will be taking place in the Museum from the 21 until the 23 June.

The company, who focus on new, contemporary and site-specific work, aim to create a production which will be focused on York’s medieval period, being devised and inspired by objects and stories of the lives of those from the period. The piece promises to take a sideways look at the source material in order to present a ‘contemporary re-imagining’ of the cities ancient history. It will compare the York of then to the York of today.

The auditions, due to be held in the theatre’s De Grey rooms will be a group workshop so YAC says there will be no need to prepare anything in advance of this date. ‘We are looking for committed and passionate young people between 18 to 25 years old who are available to rehearse Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from June 6th. This is an exciting opportunity to create and perform a new piece of theatre as part of an ensemble with an emerging company in a non-theatrical setting.’

If any more information is wanted, or you wish to book an audition date email julian@yorktheatreroyal.co.uk or call Julian Ollive on 01904 658162.
