York City Football Club fans have been as busy to snapping up season tickets as backroom staff have been in the transfer market for their return to League 2 of the Football League, after an 8 year absence.

The club sold 1,250 early bird season tickets after announcing that the prices would remain the same for all fans who held a season ticket for 2011/2012.  The price freeze is a public thank you to the loyal fans who have “stood by the Club in difficult times and during the last season in the Conference.”

Minstermen supporters wishing to take advantage of the early bird offer and who wish to keep their seats for the forthcoming campaign, had until 29th June.  Unclaimed seats have now been released for general sale and with prices increasing by 10%.

Prices at the discounted rate range from £265 to an adult, to £175 for concessions and £46 for u12s.

Prices of matchday tickets at Bootham Crescent are set for only a £1 increase with the opening day of the League 2 season only two months away on Saturday 18th August.

The Minstermen have also been busy in the transfer market in pre-season so far.  The club announced they have resigned utility player Jamal Fyfield, whilst last season’s Wembley Double winners Jon Challinor and Scottish defender Chris Doig have penned new deals.

New players already confirmed include Michael Coulson, John McReady, and Danny Blanchett.

Coulson, who has spent the last 3 seasons with Blue Square Premier side Grimsby Town, is an England C international and made 72 appearances for The Mariners, scoring 16 goals.  Young midfielder McReady joins from Darlington, made 56 appearances in his time at the Quakers scoring 3 goals, including a lovely strike against The Minstermen in the 2-2 draw at Darlington Arena in January this year.  Last season, defender Blanchett played 14 times for Burton Albion in League 2.

Meanwhile, loyal club servant Daniel Parslow has signed up for an additional year to the seven he has already spent with the Minstermen.  Parslow has already made 202 senior appearances for York and was voted Clubman Of The Year in both 2009 and 2011.

The new squad will face their first test together when Martin O’Neill’s Sunderland come to Bootham Crescent on Tuesday 7th August to play a Pre-Season Friendly.
