York plays host to a brilliant new web series as I Am Tim splatters onto your screens on 10 May. The fake documentary uses old school, practical special effects inspired by films such as The Evil Dead and Bad Taste.
Writer Jamie Mckeller, from York created the series with York based film company RedShirt Films. Episode one will be launched on Thursday 10 May, 8:00 pm, and then released every Thursday. You can subscribe to the YouTube channel to be updated as soon as the episode is available.
The highly anticipated series follows a monster hunter named Tim; he is a normal thirty year old. He has a normal job, a normal flat, a normal girlfriend… but one day he finds out that he is a direct blood descendent of the most epic monster hunter ever… Abraham Van Helsing. Destiny says it is time for a new Helsing to rise up and whoop the asses of the creeps, freaks and monsters that have hidden in the murkiest of murky bits for far too long.
Some people can’t leave the dark and mysterious alone. They have to prod at it with sharp, dirty sticks just to see what happens. Meet Richard Timmons. Documentary filmmaker, poet, Internet user and Labrador enthusiast. He has a film crew, a small budget, and a huge appetite for the unknown. He’s going to get a lot of people killed. One day, Timmons meet Helsing and promises the young monster hunter a great pile of money. All Tim has to do is let him come along on patrol. What could possibly go wrong?
I Am Tim has been reviewed by SFX who said, “I Am Tim balances this idea of normal horror with a jet black sense of humour and a very, very welcome sense of the ridiculous.”
Described by the makers as disgracefully twisted, they have released a short trailer full of blood, guts and laughter. They are asking for as many websites, blogs, feeds, twitters and facebooker’s to share the web series.
So go on, support the talent of York and who knows what the future might hold for the cities newest horror series.
