York Pride is underway in a year of firsts for the celebration of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Community, and promotion of equality and diversity.
A 100-strong parade congregated at York Minster and traveled on foot throughout the city towards the racecourse, where the celebrations are now in full force. This the first year a parade of this magnitude has taken place and the streets were lined with onlookers out to show their support. In another first, there is a rainbow flag flying above Mansion House for the today.
