Hoping to retain its top spot as the UK’s most group friendly destination, York has once again been shortlisted as a finalist in the Group Travel Organiser Awards which take place on 15 June at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel in London.

Voted for by readers of Group Travel Organiser (GTO) magazine, the city of York will go up against Bournemouth, Canterbury, Hull, London, Manchester and Salisbury in the Most Group Friendly UK Destination category, the winner of which will be announced by renowned travel journalist, Simon Calder.

Should York win this coveted title, it will be the second year in a row the city has been chosen by GTO readers as their favourite UK destination. Now in its 15th year, the Group Travel Awards has earned an enviable reputation as the most prestigious event serving the group travel market. The awards reflect a highly valued endorsement from customers in this important market sector.

Elaine Moss, Marketing Executive at Visit York, commented: “The team here at Visit York was excited to learn that York had been selected once again in the final line-up for the Most Group Friendly UK Destination category at the Group Travel Organiser Awards. Our dedicated Groups Desk works year-round to give groups visiting our historic city a first class, memorable experience, tailoring products and services to meet the needs of large visitor groups.

“Being a finalist is a fantastic accolade in itself, however, to win this title again, would be an amazing coup for York and a fantastic reason to celebrate everything this amazing city has to offer.” To find out more about Visit York, click here.
