Young people from across York and North Yorkshire have won recognition for a society-changing project.

As part of the National Citizen project, they were recognized in Harrogate at the Royal Hall at the finale celebration event presented with prize money.

As part of the “Do it, Change it, Live it” program “ run by the Coalition Government, 11 groups of young people had been taking part in the scheme involving outdoor activities.

The first week saw the team at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre in Thirsk before moving on to their own communities. It was during the second week which saw the team implement social action projects, working with local businesses and charities. This has gone in hand with the current national drive by the Coalition to promote a more active society.
