Favourite time of year:

That bit at the beginning of Autumn when the sun lights up the dying leaves so they look like they're on fire. I'm not a pyromaniac. It just looks pretty.

Favourite travel destination:

Cornwall, despite it having dangerously high levels of background radiation, I find myself drawn to its Cornish pasties (and the incredible Minack theatre)

Secret hideout in York:

There's a really nice bit of the wall that's been worn away to create a comfy seat shaped dip, most likely by centuries of Roman Soldiers' rumps. It's nice to know when I sit there that my gluteus maximus can now contribute to that Roman legacy not just in name.

Favourite things about living here:

The history, the people, and the fudge shop just off Stonegate.

Best bars:

Without a doubt, Evil Eye. Though when I arrived as a fresher and asked the bartender "Is it true that this is Johnny Depp's favourite hangout in York??" he just laughed in my face. It was a bad start, but everything can be forgiven for just a sip of their 'Brazilian Monk' cocktail.

Best insiders tip:

Seek out and walk down Whipmawhopmagate. It's a blast.

Best view of the city:

Sitting in the aforementioned groove in the city wall, you can look out over the whole of York.

Favourite shop:

Vomfass on Lower Petergate. It's the perfect gift shop, selling a variety of liqueurs, whiskys and oils in personalised bottles.

Best place to eat:

'Red Chilli' just by Club Salvation is incredible. It's a proper Chinese restaurant where you can opt for cow intestine if you're brave enough.... I've never been brave enough. Their sweet and sour chicken is just too good!

This time next year I will be:

Thinking "This time next year I will be employed... this time next year I WILL be employed" over and over again in increasing desperation.

Top 5 bands:

[Insert five unknown Indie bands here in a failing attempt to make myself seem trendy]

Favourite era:

Ancient Greece. Everything I know about it is based around a game I played as a kid called 'Zeus: Master of Mount Olympus' where you built up a Greek city. Gigantic Gods walked the streets, blessing buildings, bursting with pithy remarks about Ares and Aphordite's latest fling and firing firebolts at each others' heads. I think I would be disappointed if I learned about the era properly...

If I was an animal I would be a:

If I was an animal I would be a ... Giraffe. I'm quite tall - but I'm unable to stick my tongue up my nose. Maybe I wouldn't be a giraffe.

Born and bred on a council estate outside Watford, I rebelled by developing an accent Jennie Bond would be proud of. Now twenty, I’ve fled to the University of York to study English Literature – a subject made for people who clip their consonants. As the Editor of Scene, the arts and culture pull out of the award winning student newspaper York Vision, I can pursue my passion for film and video game journalism; being able to watch a film for free in exchange for a review isn’t a deal, it’s a dream!
