Review: Bob Dylan in York: The Drawn Blank Series 2012

O&O Loves: Vinyl

Role at One&Other:

Favourite time of year:

Winter. I’ve invested a lot of money into M&S scarves.

Favourite travel destination:

I’m not a big fan of going outside, contrary to the scarf collection.

Secret hideout in York:

Bromborough. The best kept secret in York.

Favourite things about living here:

Short walking distances between places which minimise “outside time”.

Best bars:

Unsurprisingly, not a big fan of bars either. The journey to most of them involves going outside. Also, the way the music is so loud you have to shout to talk scares and confuses me .

Best insiders tip:

The Siward Street Art Gallery.

Icon:

Chris Bull

Best view of the city:

Three quarters up King Street looking north-east.

Favourite shop:

Duttons for Buttons. I’ve never been in. But you have to admire its commitment to its cause (which is, for clarification selling buttons, and only buttons.)

Best place to eat:

The restaurant at the Siward Street Art Gallery.

This time next year I will be:

Indoors.

Top 5 bands:

Bob Dylan and Lou Reed are probably my favourite musicians. Recently I’ve been listening to Antony and the
Johnsons, Woody Guthrie, Wilco, Billy Bragg and Cat’s Eyes.

Favourite era:

1966. The founding of the Science Studies Unit.

If I was an animal I would be a:

Dead animal. I’m very lucky that natural selection doesn’t have a hold on humans anymore.

Third year BA History student at the University of York. Currently, the curator of Siward Street Art Gallery and promoter of Marks and Spencer’s winter ware.
