Coffee is a complex and serious business and some great coffee shops have opened recently in York, giving us a fantastic range of choice.
Here are five we’ve noticed while strolling about looking for that coffee high.
Partisan and the French House 112 Micklegate
Partisan are an independent coffee shop and restaurant serving Monmouth coffee and Bluebird Teas, using Roost coffee for their single origin pour-over coffees. Their chefs are creative and enthusiastic, with menu changes almost on a daily basis. All their food is handcrafted in the restaurant, with bread, cakes and pastries freshly prepared each day and shop-made pickles, preserves and yoghurt on sale.
They also offer takeaway food every day: sandwiches, soup, stews and cakes. Check out their Facebook page.
Gulp & Graze 110 Micklegate
The guys at Gulp & Graze pride themselves on using the freshest ingredients in the land, providing a more natural way of eating. Fancy trying out a boosting breakfast? A seasonal salad? Some gutsy granola? Or maybe one of their energising “Blend Me” juices?
Head over to their website and share the adventure.
Rae & Webb 74 Gillygate
With guest coffee beans regularly, Rae & Webb use the wonderful V60 Pourover for a lighter, delicate coffee and the Aeropress for a more robust, sweeter experience. They offer to teach you how to use them at home and have a range of great whole bean coffees from Origin to go with them.
They also offer a mouthwatering range of cakes: their Gigantic Chocolate Cake will start your weekend with a bang… and provide a massive sugar high. Check out their Facebook page.
