In its 800 years as a chartered city, York has produced many great works of inspired creative writing from the many writers born in and locals of the city to the many hundreds more compelled to write by the beauty, mystery and history of this ancient city. Now, on the anniversary of the charter day, the Mansion House is encouraging visitors to use the artefacts of York’s Mansion House as the muse for a creative work.
This half-day session held at one of York’s most intriguing and significant historical buildings, hopes that the host of visitors will produce a collection of short poems and stories by the end of their visit having been driven to creativity by the objects and architecture around them.
The event is open to all and what better way to celebrate Charter Day than penning an ode in this landmark York house.
