Due to an influx of small, independent artists and craftsmen living in one place, the small rural village of Fangfoss in East Yorkshire  hosts a mini Arts Festival for one weekend every year.

This is the 14th annual affair and promises to be a great family day out. A collaborative event run by Fangfoss Pottery, The Rocking Horse Shop, The Carpenter’s Arms and Harry Postill Furniture unites the whole village and attracts thousands of people annually. The businesses open their doors to the public and encourage them to get involved with a plethora of activities.

The weekend can be as hands on as you choose with the Pottery opening their doors with a host of free activities including a competition to throw the tallest pot, free pot painting for the children and demonstrations from the  highly skilled potters.

The Rocking Horse Shop are also showcasing Bertie, the nationally renowned largest Rocking Horse in the world. Standing at fifteen feet tall and weighing more than two tonnes. Their full workshops and showrooms are also open to watch the highly skilled craftsmen at work.

Aside from this there are several other activities and an exceptional Country Pub (The Carpenters Arms) to whet your appetite.

    Hello Viki,
Great bit of writing. If you could, would you mention the church which is putting on its flower festival. This year the theme is “Nursery Rhymes”. Jenny Olsen and I are doing “Doctor Foster” – but you don’t have to say that!!!!
