Orillo, the people behind those gigantic white letters around York, have been slowly gaining a reputation for fun and innovation when it comes to cinema. Their latest project, an outdoor screening, will be held in the beautiful Minster Gardens with a vintage summer feel. Even though as yet there has been no summer to speak of, you may as well pretend it is warm and dry and take your waterproof picnic blanket along for the ride. There will be Pimms sorbet, tea and biscuits as well as a free pair of Orillo sunglasses for each ticketholder. The film? Well, that’s the fun of it. Gates open at 6pm, you go along and eat, drink and meet the people you’ll be watching the screening alongside. By the time the reels are fed into the machine, the whirring begins and the silver screen lights up it should be 8.30pm.
