The diary of Anne Frank is quite possibly the most famous diary in the world, it charts two years of her life from 1942 to 1944 and is a fantastic and deeply personal account of hope, courage and survival. It has touched and united millions of people world wide.
Hidden from the German Nazis, and her Jewish family sought refuge in a secret annex in Amsterdam. Anne documented all of her day to day experiences and her hopes and frustrations whilst living in confinement.
This play dramatises those observations of herself and companions, and evoking all the original sentiments of a young girl’s heartbreaking diary, which had been written in the most hostile environments. The Diary of Anne Frank is from the same partnership that produced last year’s To Kill a Mockingbird.
