If you are wondering around York this evening in the distorted beauty of the crashing autumn leaves, the wonderful surroundings of an art gallery are on the horizon.
According to McGee on Tower Street is hosting an art preview tonight at 6:00pm headlined by Harry Malkin and Sam Jefferies.
As a former miner, Malkin’s work is largely based on the experience of mining and the paintings in the gallery have reflected this. The work of Sam Jefferies includes a politicalised portrait of estranged Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange that is worth exploring.
It appears that the exhibition will explore conceptual art, an increasingly rare phenomenon in an exhibition space.
Paintings are by Sam Jefferies, Brian Lewis, Harry Malkin, Richard Barnes, Amrik Varkalis, Francine Cross, Rich Gray
Private View 05/10/12, 6pm to 8pm at According to McGee gallery, 8 Tower Street, York YO1 9SA (01904) 671709 www.accordingtomcgee.com
