Sam Moorhead, the National Finds Advisor for Iron Age and Roman coins in the Department of Portable Antiquities and Treasure at the British Museum, and David Stuttard, freelance writer and member of the Council of the Roman Society, will examine the importance of individuals, not historical forces, to shaping Britain. Characters like Caesar, Agricola, Boudica, Carausius and Allectus were crucial to creating Roman Britain, and Stuttard and Moorhead will explore the importance of people rather than events in the moulding of Britain. The story is laid out as a single narrative with quotes from important Roman figures given against the backdrop of changing Britain.
Sam Moorhead was voted Archaeologist of the Year in 2011 by readers of Current Archaeology, and is Honorary Secretary of the Roman Society and a Trustee of the Association for Roman Archaeology and David Stuttard has taught classics in Edinburgh, St Andrews and York, he founded the theatre company Actors of Dionysus, which tours productions of Greek drama in his own translations and adaptations.
