Special Review by Ava Johnston, almost 7 years old.

Hetty Feather was a fabulous show full of magic, sparkle and colour. From the moment we sat down to watch the show I felt like I was at the circus. The star spangles on the red curtains and the music made me feel super excited for what was to come. I loved the story of Hetty Feather and the adventures she went on with her friends. So many times I felt like I wanted to go up and join them on the stage. Actress Hannah Brown, played Hetty brilliantly and I loved how strong and passionate she was. My favourite was Madame Adeline, played by Laura Soper. As soon as she was on stage it all became extra magical and I was entranced by her aerial hooping and her beautiful costume.

All the costumes were amazing and the hoop skills of the entire cast were fantastic. I really liked the scene where Hetty was being washed after arriving at the foundling school. I was so impressed with the clever props the actors used to show water. Blue sparkly sequins were thrown over Hetty and it really looked like water and made me giggle. I also thought the elephant was wonderful. It was so exciting to see it walk around the circus actors and sprinkle water from it’s trunk. It was so clever of the actors to make it move so well.

Hetty Feather made me really remember just how much I love my own family and how lucky I am to have them. And it made me want a fancy costume like Madame Adeline! I felt happy and almost like I’d been in a dream as I left the show. It was so magic! I would give it a billion stars! Don’t miss it!

You can catch Hetty Feather today at 2pm and 7pm at York Theatre Royal.
